After a challenging 2022 and entering our 21st year in aviation, we are looking forward to the new flying season with a number of changes.

Our ATO (Approved Training Organisation) is fully operational at both Glasgow International Airport (0141 404 1830) and Cumbernauld Airport (01236 727727). Membership is £99.00 per year and covers both locations. Membership provides additional benefits including subsidised landing fees at both airports and discounts at the Cafe.

Our base at Glasgow offers training and hire for 2-seat (Piper Tomahawk) and 4-seat aircraft (Cessna 172). We also have a Piper Arrow available for advanced training and familiarisation.

Glasgow Airport offers all the facilities you would expect from an International airport. Night training can be arranged all year round and Instrument training can be done locally.

Training is available for the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL), and the Private Pilot Licence (PPL). Additional ratings for Night and IRR (Instrument Rating (Restricted)) are also available.

We also have an FAA-approved training simulator, a Boeing 737-800 simulator, and an Airbus A320 simulator.

Our base at Cumbernauld offers training and hire for 2-seat (Piper Tomahawk) and 4-seat aircraft (Cessna 172)

Cumbernauld is a GA-friendly airport and ideal for initial training. Our members benefit from reduced landing costs which are particularly beneficial while training ‘in the circuit’.

The cafe at Cumbernauld is open 7 days a week, 10:00 – 14:00. Hot and cold drinks are available along with a selection of hot and colds snacks. The opening hours will be extended soon as will the menu.

Aircraft management and engineering have been our biggest challenges over the past few years. We have been working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority on a permanent solution to this. This has resulted in the forming of a new business, Leading Edge Aircraft Engineers, which will be looking after our aircraft fleet. We are expecting our certificate in the coming days for our Part CAO approval. This has been made possible with the support of George Cormack and Islander Aircraft at Cumbernauld Airport and Tayside Aviation. While we are not looking for 3rd party work, we will be happy to support aircraft owners directly involved with Leading Edge. Our website will develop to help provide aircraft owners with support and advice.
